You can read the test of Matthew 13 here if you like:  http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Matthew%2013&version=NIV1984

The Greek word for parable means “a placing beside.”  I parable is a story that runs alongside a heavenly truth.  When reading a parable, it is helpful to ask certain questions.

Who represents God in the story?

Where can I find myself in the story?

How does this truth speak to my life today?

13:1-9  Give this parable a title the represents how to apply it to life.   Answer the above questions.

13:18-23          What kind of ground did the seed of God’s Word find in your life?  In what ways has the soil sometimes changed through the years?

Title and answer the parable questions for these parables.

              13:24-30

  13:31-32

               13:44-46

   13:47-50

13:53-58:    Why do you think Jesus’ hometown rejected Him?    What stumbling blocks stood in their way from truly recognizing Jesus as Messiah?   Are there any stumbling blocks between you and God right now?
